EDF power solutions commissions the Serra das Almas wind farm in Brazil

Brasilia, November 13, 2025 – With a capacity of 261 MW, the Serra das Almas wind farm will provide low-carbon and competitive electricity to a local energy-intensive company. With this new asset, EDF power solutions reinforces its commitment to reducing its clients’ carbon footprint.

Located in the state of Bahia, the 58 wind turbines of the Serra das Almas wind farm will generate the equivalent of the electricity consumption of over 600,000 households. The energy will mainly be used to meet the needs of an energy intensive industrial company through a 20-year power purchase agreement. This contract guarantees the client competitive, low-carbon energy at a stable and predictable cost.

Located in the northeast of Brazil, the wind farm generated significant local economic activity, creating up to 1,300 jobs during the peak of construction phase, with workers primarily coming from surrounding communities. During the operation phase, around 30 persons are working on the site.

Beyond generating direct economic benefits, EDF power solutions supported local communities by implementing training programs for young adults. These initiatives were designed to enhance professional skills and facilitate entry into the workforce, successfully benefiting over 160 individuals.

André Salgado, CEO of EDF power solutions Brazil, stated: “The launch of Serra das Almas’ operations is a major milestone for EDF power solutions. It showcases our expertise in energy production solutions, enabling our clients to advance their decarbonization journey with optimized costs and a reliable energy supply.”
